Explicitly designed with the American Bar Association’s (ABA’s) advice for students thinking about attending law school, the Legal Studies minor offers courses from eight distinct academic disciplines across two Colleges at GCSU. In addition to those who want to go to law school, this program is for students who want to navigate the regulatory environment of the business world, serve in the criminal justice system, or to be better prepared to work in our highly legalistic society.
Minor Requirements
Students must complete 18 total hours of coursework from Parts I-III in the following manner. Additionally, no more than three courses total shall be credited to a student’s majors or another minor.
Part I: Required Survey of the Law Course (3 Hours)
Students must choose one from of the following:

Students must choose four from the following, at least two of which must be upper-division courses and two of which must be outside the student's major:

This course provides students with a capstone experience which will require them to apply both their analytical thinking skills and their legal knowledge to a semester long, hypothetical litigation that will focus on developing their writing and oral communication skills. This course may not count towards a student’s majors or minor in any other discipline.
